7 July 2022 – Bromborough (UK): NewEra Metal Resources Ltd (the “Company” or “NewEra”) is pleased to announce a significant expansion of its Mirano Norte uranium project located proximal to the former producing Huemul uranium mine in the Malargue uranium district of western Argentina. The project is now comprised of 3 cateo applications for a total of 8,250 ha.
This application covers a known uranium-copper occurrence and it is situated in an area of upper Cretaceous age sediments, along strike approximately 5 km north of the Huemul mine. The sediments in the area are typically cemented by abundant bitumen (a uranium “collector”) which fill N-S striking paleo-channels.
The Malargue uranium district is one of seven (7) districts in Argentina and was the site of the first uranium mining in the country in the 1950s. The Huemul mine is located approximately 40 km south of Malargue town, and it operated from 1955 – 1976 producing 149 tonnes of U3O8 and 861 tonnes of copper at average ore grades of 0.21% U, 2% Cu and 0.11% V.
The Company plans to visit its Mirano Norte project during the 2022 / 2023 field season.
