13 December 2022 – Bromborough (UK): NewEra Metal Resources Ltd (the “Company” or “NewEra”) announces application for “manifestacion de descubrimiento” (disseminated copper-uranium mineralisation) at two of its uranium cateos in the Mirano project. This project is located within the Malargue uranium district of western Argentina. The “manifestacion de descubrimiento” is the first stage in applying for a mine permit.
The Malargue uranium district is one of seven (7) districts in Argentina and was the site of the first uranium mining in the country in the 1950s. The Huemul mine is located approximately 40 km south of Malargue town along principal Route 40, and it operated from 1955 – 1976 producing 149 tonnes of U3O8 and 861 tonnes of copper at average ore grades of 0.21% U, 2% Cu and 0.11% V. The old Huemul mine workings are located approximately 1 km west of Route 40.
Mineralized lenses up to 2 m thick comprise pitchblende and uranyl vanadates as the principal uranium minerals. Chalcopyrite, minor chalcocite and covellite accompany the uranium mineralisation. The presence of copper and vanadium as potential by-products would potentially have a positive impact on the project economics.
NewEra intends to look for a partner to advance its Mirano project in 2023.
