26 May 2022 – Bromborough (UK): NewEra Metal Resources Ltd (the “Company” or “NewEra”) is pleased to announce application for a 1900 ha cateo (exploration concession) for uranium – vanadium exploration in the Malargue uranium district of southern Mendoza Province.
The area has been identified from an independent structural and satellite study completed for the Company during 2019 and is situated approximately 5 kms east of the Huemul uranium mine in the Malargue uranium district of western Argentina. This district is one of seven (7) uranium districts in Argentina and was the site of the first uranium mining in the country in the 1950s. The Huemul mine is located approximately 40 km south of Malargue town, and it operated from 1955 – 1976 producing 149 tonnes of U3O8 and 861 tonnes of copper at average ore grades of 0.21% U, 2% Cu and 0.11% V.
The cateo application area encompasses the small Ceferino mine permit and it includes a uranium – copper occurrence proximal to the mine permit. No records of mining activity are known from Ceferino, but it is assumed that it is related to the historic uranium mining activity associated with the Huemul uranium mine. Mirano Norte is located in an area of Upper Jurassic age sediments.
This application together with the Carmencita application announced on 23 February 2022 constitute the uranium project to be known as Mirano Norte which covers approximately 2,400 ha.
The Company plans to make a site visit to its Mirano Norte project during the 2022 / 2023 field season.
